Global Standard for Oil and Gas Industry Needed
Oils spills and gas leaks leading to pollution and environmental disasters plague the oil and gas industry. Piper Alpha disaster and the
Hilary Ross of Bond Pearce LLP has raised her voice to call for an international safety standard for the oil and gas industry. Bond Pearce has an international oil and gas team and represents many professionals of the oil industry.
The legal professionals have clearly voiced their opinion to save the environment and protect the needs of the society. It is clear that with lack of clarity comes ambiguity that can lead to mistakes in judgement.
While different countries have different sets of laws regarding the governance of the oil and gas industry, what is necessary is a common standard for safety regulation. It would be beneficial to the countries, the oil and gas industry and the environment.
Ms Ross will make the call for the introduction of an international standard at a forum being organised by Bond Pearce in
Standards that are uniform across the world help efficient functioning and effective performance. It would be the perfect way to achieve true global presence despite various cultures and boundaries.
